Polished: Upside Down French Braid

As I've mentioned, I try to only wash my hair every other day, which means I try to come up with different ways to wear my hair on the second day.

As you've probably noticed in a lot of my outfit photos, that I wear the high bun quite a bit. It's just so easy! Trying to figure out how to change it up a little bit, I've been seeing on some blogs that you can french braid your hair upside down into the bun. It's slightly difficult, but with a little work, I thought it looked cute. The key for me was to clip the front part of my hair out of the way so I didn't grab it on accident. Try it and see how it works!

These pictures were taken at the end of the day, so it's a little on the messy side, but I really like it that way!

Have a happy Wednesday!

Favorite Hair Products

So, as of right now, I have a few favorites.

My hair is weird.

It used to be really curly:

me and kimmie, circa 2007

Now, it's like this:

Actually, I'm growing it out now, but you get the idea.

Anyway, so I have been using a lot more heat on it than I d
id when it was curly and I am trying to take care of it. My hair gets really oily at the roots, but dry on the ends.

1. I really like the new Tresseme Dry Shampoo. I blogged about it earlier in this post. I bought the correct brush and I have been using it. Let me tell you something...it totally works! I spray it on my roots around my face, leave for a few minutes, brush it out and I'm good to go. It leaves my hair looking, feeling, and smelling clean without weighing it down at all. I'm a fan. It is allowing me to be gentler on my hair because I don't have to wash and dry it every day. Hooray!

2. I bought this product this weekend and I love it. It works just as promised!!
Nexxus Pro Mend

Like I said, it works as promised. I bought the leave in conditioner only and I have used it twice now and I'm not kidding, my split ends are repaired now. It smells great and it doesn't weigh my hair down. I am a big fan now, I may even purchase other products in this line.

3. I bought a teasing comb. I watched a hair tutorial by Linley on her blog (which is awesome, by the way) and she talked about how to add volume to your hair with a teasing comb. Well I bought one and I love it. Don't judge me.

Just wanted to share those few things.

I hope you all had a great Wednesday. Mine was ok, thanks for asking!

Finally...a blog post!

Today is Wednesday and I've been a terrible blogger lately. I have not had a lot of time to post, we've been so busy!

Actually, I really hate being busy. I don't like always feeling rushed and feeling like I don't have enough time to dedicate to the things that really need it, i.e. my husband and my school work. We don't have much going on for a few days so I plan on taking advantage of this break and getting a lot of work done.

I have a few things to tell you:

1. My parents are awesome. They are on this really cool, super healthy diet. And by diet, I mean that they have just changed their eating habits to be really healthy. It's all stuff anyone can do! Ethan and I used to be better about our food intake and we are inspired to be better again.

2. I love the show Parenthood. I really enjoy the characters and think it's a great show.

3. I bought this new product:
I tried it this morning and I think I'm going to love it. I put too much in my hair and I don't have the right kind of brush. My round brush did not do a good job of getting the powder out of my hair so I ended up washing it in the shower anyway. Which was my back-up plan in case it was an epic fail. I think I might get a cheap flat brush and try again. I'll update.

And now on to 30 for 30...

I hit a wall this weekend. I am really tired of the pieces in my 30 and I have run out of creative ideas. Apparently, I'm not the only one because the few other blogs I have read all said the same thing this weekend. Kendi, who is hosting the challenge, actually blogged about how to get past this wall we've run into. I read it on Monday afternoon, so I think my outfits will get better.

Here's day 21:

(sweater: khols - skirt: gap - tights: walmart - shoes: uo - bracelets: forever 21 - tired eyes: caused by monday)

I didn't wear the tights to work. I thought they might be...too much. What do you think? Too fishnet-y?

Day 22:

(blazer: wish nola - shirt: wish nola - jeans: target - shoes: ? boutique in nola)

I love this outfit. It's my New Orleans one because everything but the jeans came from there. Love it. I did not wear this to work. To work, I had on black tights and a black pencil skirt with the shoes, shirt tucked in, and blazer. I went to a Premiere Jewely party last night so I through on jeans. I really liked the jeans version much better.

Ok. I'm done now with my ramblings. I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!
